$43 million of that gift was used to build the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation announced a gift to The Smith Center to pay for the completion of its block in Symphony Park. Reynolds Discovery Center project was $50 million. In 2010 the museum announced plans to construct and occupy a new home and larger home in Symphony Park. In 1985, a bond issued to authorize the building of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library and Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, which opened its doors on September 9, 1990. Formerly known as Lied Discovery Children's museum, this three-story children’s museum is located adjacent to The Smith Center in Downtown Las Vegas. The DISCOVERY Children's Museum (LDCM) is a 58,000-square-foot (5,400 m 2) facility located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The museum is a great space to host your wedding celebration. The expansive glass allows ample natural light into the space while also giving passers-by a preview of the whimsical exhibits inside.The DISCOVERY Museum & The Smith Center for the Performing Arts The DISCOVERY Childrens Museum is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The museum’s massing, fenestration and exterior details are designed with intentionally similarities to those of Reynolds Hall and Boman Pavilion as the museum forms the southern boundary of The Smith Center’s courtyard. The Discovery Children’s Museum, like the other two venues on the campus, was planned and designed to achieve LEED Certification or better. The museum itself became fully operational and open to the public a year later. It was a small museum that was located in a converted garage on. The Discovery Children’s Museum’s exterior was completed in time for the opening of the adjacent Reynolds Hall and Boman Pavilion in March 2012. The Discovery Childrens Museum was originally founded in 1955 as the Las Vegas Youth Museum.

The museum is housed in a new, purpose-built facility on the Center’s southwest corner. This interconnected city features many businesses kids are already familiar with - like Smiths, Wells Fargo, and The Las Vegas Aiport. The Discovery Children’s Museum was relocated to its new home upon completion of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. On DISCOVERY Children’s Museum’s second floor, you will find our little, environmentally-friendly Eco City, where kids learn what it takes to earn a paycheck and become contributing members of a community.
